Pump Up Your Confidence While Dating

Dating can be so hard for many men and women. Especially if you are a bit shy. A lot of dating is a confidence “game” where the more confident you feel: the easier it is to meet people. You don’t have to be the most outgoing person at the party with a lampshade on your head. But you do need to increase your confidence in yourself to have a more successful time with dating. Having better confidence can mean the difference between finding someone special and spending your evenings by yourself eating ice cream.

Think for a moment of how you spend your days. How often do you do things that make you feel good? If you don’t feel very good about yourself, you may not be doing the things that make you feel good – often enough! If your favorite thing to do is to bake bread, then take the time to bake some bread. You may wonder, “But how will this help me find someone to date?” Someone might bake delicious bread and share it with their neighbors or coworkers and develop better friendships with them. You’ll get compliments on your bread and feel better about yourself. So add more of the things you are good at and feel good doing – to your days everyday! Even if you think they have nothing to do with dating: they do!

Many singles feel less than confident because they have been rejected and they are taking this experience too hard. What they fail to realize is that everyone gets rejected. Even the most beautiful women, the handsomest men get rejected sometimes by people they are hoping to have relationships with. Learn to take rejection less personally. Often rejection has less to do with us and more to do with the other person. Sometimes that other person isn’t ready to have a relationship or has other things going on in their life. Try to shrink your experiences with rejection.

Remember now all of the good things that make you who you are. That you ran a 10k this year or that you volunteer at your daughter’s school. Or that you got a scholarship to college. Everyone has things about themselves that make them unique and special. List your unique qualities and accomplishments to feel good about who you are. Know that someone will be thrilled to have a relationship with you.

If there are things about yourself that you’d like to change, now is the time to do so. Perhaps you feel insecure about having a bald spot or having a few extra pounds. Look for ways to change these situations. Many things in life we can improve if we try. Even a small improvement will give you more confidence.

Realize that everyone has things that make them feel a little insecure. You may feel less than confident about approaching a man or a woman, but realize that the person you are approaching has things that make them feel anxious too. You have everything to attract a wonderful relationship just as you are!
